Friends of Kids in Crisis was originally named The Friends of the Family
Crisis Center and was started in 1997 by a group of concerned citizens in
the Denver area. We are a 501 (c) 3 serving at risk youth in the Denver
area including those at the Family Crisis Center.
We are expanding our care and concern throughout the city of Denver and surrounding communities to create caring, nurturing and child-friendly environments for abused and neglected children in the Denver area, including those sheltered at the Family Crisis Center. The mission of the Family Crisis Center has evolved over time due to expanding services to the adolescent population.
The Family Crisis Center's Mission Statement:
The Family Crisis Center seeks to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children and adolescents who are removed from the home due to abuse or neglect or children in need of care while transitioning to a more permanent placement setting. The Family Crisis Center offers a nurturing, therapeutic and enriching educational environment to children and adolescents who lives have been impacted by abuse, neglect, or trauma. The Family Crisis Center seeks to provide new opportunities for children and adolescents that will enhance their lives and ability function in the community.
The Family Crisis Center offers services to meet children and adolescents needs including shelter; food; clothing; individual, family, and group counseling; psychiatric services; full on-site medical services; dental care; community- based recreation program; bilingual staff; drug and alcohol treatment; on-grounds school for grades 4-12; etc.
